As your candidate for mayor, Sonya is focused on delivering a city that works for all Calgarians. Her leadership will prioritize affordability, public safety and efficient core services.
Affordability
Making Calgary an affordable place to live again is at the heart of Sonya’s priorities.
“It is my mission to ensure Calgary is a place that people can thrive. It has always been a city that has grown faster than others. That should not mean sacrificing affordability. You shouldn’t have to choose between buying groceries, paying your bills, or setting your children up for success.”

Public Safety
Community safety
Sonya will work closely with provincial and federal governments, no matter which party is in power, to manage the cost of living and deliver real results.
To see how Sonya would make our city safer as your mayor, look no further than what she accomplished as Ward 1 Councillor.

“If you don’t have a safe city, you have nothing.”

Getting City Hall back on the right track
Sonya believes that the way business is done at City Hall needs to change. There are too many layers to be able to get work done efficiently. Administration needs to be accountable for what they do, and we need to have better and more consistent performance measures to show progress.
A strong city is one where residents and businesses can count on the essentials being done right. Citizens should not have to ask for running water or their potholes filled; it should just be delivered.
