Councillor and former lifeguard saves six-year-old at Calgary pool

Sharp said she had taken her two kids for a swim at the Mount Pleasant outdoor pool on July 17.
She said she worked as a lifeguard 20 years ago, and is always scanning the water whenever she’s at a pool.
While watching her kids, Sharp saw a six-year-old boy struggling in the water.
“I looked over at the lifeguard, and her eyes were on him,” said Sharp. “I was just probably closer and realized that he went down once, then the second time.
“I decided to jump in, grabbed him and brought him to the edge.”
Sharp said the boy was fine before long.
“I’m very grateful that that’s all it was, and he actually ended up enjoying the rest of the afternoon with his friends and family,” she said.
