While most of her proposed amendments were rejected during budget deliberations, Sharp said she was pleased to see a sizable majority of council support her pitch to maintain Inglewood’s aging aquatic centre.
“The overwhelming public opposition to the pool’s closure has spoken volumes,” she said in a social media statement. “Residents made it clear that this space matters, and council has a responsibility to listen and respond to the priorities of our communities. Cutting essential community services should never be the default solution to balancing a budget or lowering taxes. We need to find better ways to find efficiencies while prioritizing investments that directly improve quality of life in our city, and this pool is a shining example of that.”
